WPC decking is a combination of recycled wood and plastic. Decking made of WPC decking materials instead of traditional wood allow us to enjoy more time and use less time to maintain them. But this doesn’t mean there is no need for maintenance at all. Below are some maintenance tips for using and maintaining WPC Decking in winter.
Cleaning the decking
WPC decking can be protected from most moisture and UV, but wood fiber is still susceptible to mold, especially in wet conditions. BoDa adds mold inhibitors in the manufacturing of the decks to prevent fungal growth. In addition, the best way to prevent mold is to clean it regularly. You can sweep the leaves, dirt and other small debris from the deck before winter comes. You can use a broom and soapy water for washing. Special attention should be paid to clearing the space between the boards so that rainwater and snowmelt water can flow freely.
Safe snow removal
Snow and ice can cause slippage, but special care must be taken not to scratch or damage the deck when removing snow. You can gently use a plastic shovel to avoid scratching or damaging the deck surface. The best option is to use ice melt that is safe for use on concrete, flagstone and grass.  If the ice melt is safe for those three surfaces, it should not damage your composite decking.  However, avoid using an ice melt with a colorant added, as the dyes can stain decking.
